Symposium

Each year, generally in April or May, the Academy sponsors a multi-day Symposium hosted by one of the member institutions, providing an opportunity for laypersons, students, researchers and other scholars to discuss current work in the fields of science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine.

Typical issues include:

  • Biomedical Sciences
  • Infectious Disease
  • Ecology and the Environment
  • Geological Sciences
  • Chemical Sciences
  • Mathematics
  • Computer Sciences
  • Any Field of Engineering
  • Materials Sciences
  • STEM Education
  • Student Presentations
  • Other…

Special sessions for elementary, middle school, and high school students are encouraged and can be arranged on request.

Abstracts of all papers and posters accepted for presentation are published in the online, open-access, peer-reviewed, abstracted, and referenced Journal of the Idaho Academy of Science and Engineering.

Also, in conjunction with the Symposium, the IASE Annual Business Meeting is typically held, along with an Awards Banquet, field trips, and exhibits.  Spontaneous discussions at these social functions are a valued part of the broad spectrum of Symposium activities.
